The next generation of Advisors Assistant, Advisors Assistant 6, has been released for the Contact Management, Insurance, Investment, and DST FAN Mail Modules. Advisors Assistant 6 uses many of the same concepts as earlier versions of Advisors Assistant, and the basic way you use Advisors Assistant has not changed. Advisors Assistant 6 is 100% .NET Managed Code powered by SQL Server 2005, and it can be implemented from the Desktop Level to the Enterprise Level. Advisors Assistant 6 positions Advisors Assistant to take full advantage of Microsoft's annual investment in research and development. Most important, our adoption of the Microsoft .NET (pronounced dot NET) Framework will help us keep your investment in technology current.

How Do I Get Advisors Assistant 6?
All Advisors Assistant users who are current with their Annual Subscription will be able to update to Advisors Assistant 6 free of charge just like any other update. If you just purchased Advisors Assistant you have a full year of updates included with your purchase.
Please contact our sales department at (800) 799-4267 if you'd like to update to Advisors Assistant 6 and you're only using the Contact Management or Insurance Modules.
You will be shipped a new set of installation CDs, and all of your existing Advisors Assistant data will be moved to Advisors Assistant 6 during the update process. Ground shipping is free of charge, or you can upgrade to 2-day Air Shipping for $20.
When Will Other Modules For Advisors Assistant 6 Be Ready?
Advisors Assistant 6 is a complete re-write of the current Advisors Assistant, with many new enhancements. At Client Marketing Systems, we always perform extensive testing before we release a new module to ensure that it is operating correctly. We will not release a module until we feel it is ready.
As each additional module is completed in Advisors Assistant 6 we will begin beta testing, and then release them. Imaging Assistant 6, the Investment Module and the Investment Downloads are well along in the development process and will follow soon as they are completed and tested. The Insurance Commission Module will be the last module released. If you are using one of the modules listed you will need to wait until that module is completed to update to Advisors Assistant 6.
Major sections of Advisors Assistant 6 have already been through Microsoft’s Software Vendor competency testing, and have been approved for Windows XP, SQL Server, and the .NET Framework. This earned Client Marketing Systems, Inc. Microsoft Certified Partner status.
Advisors Assistant 6 System Requirements
When considering system requirements, please keep in mind:
- For today’s operating systems (Windows and Windows Server) you should have at least 1 GB free disk space AFTER installing software. Windows needs space for temporary files. Microsoft SQL Server and the Advisors Assistant Database will take 1-2 GB of disk space to install, so you should have at least 3 GB of free disk space available on the computer that will host the database.
- When a program’s minimum requirements are stated, it means the program will run, but if you have minimum memory, and try to run other programs, it will take time for Windows to organize memory because it will not be able to keep all the programs in the minimum memory space.
- The cheapest way to speed up a computer is to add memory.
- Generally, IT professionals say you should never let your server go below 3-5 GB of free disk space after all software is installed.
Single User Advisors Assistant 6
- 500 Mhz Pentium III or better with 4GB free disk space
- 704 MB RAM , 1GB+ recommended . If you're downloading investments, 2 GB RAM is needed.
- Windows 2000 Professional SP4 or above. Due to network limitations imposed on home operating systems, XP Home and Vista Home are not recommended and tech support is not provided for these systems. These operating systems can be updated from Microsoft, or an earlier version of Advisors Assistant can be purchased that works on these operating systems.
- Outlook 2003 or later (if you wish to use Outlook Integration for Synchronizing and Email Archiving.)
Network & MultiProducer Advisors Assistant 6
Advisors Assistant 6 will run on a server-based network or a peer-to-peer network.
For the computer storing the database (server or shared computer):
- 500 Mhz Pentium III or better with 4 GB free disk space, 1Ghz recommended.
- Minimum 704 MB RAM (1 GB RAM recommended). If this computer will also be used as a workstation, and investments will be downloaded using this computer, 2GB RAM is needed.
- Windows 2000 Professional – latest Service Pack available. Due to network limitations imposed on home operating systems, XP Home and Vista Home are not recommended and tech support is not provided for these systems. These operating systems can be updated from Microsoft, or an earlier version of Advisors Assistant can be purchased that works on these operating systems.
For the workstation computers:
- 500 Mhz Pentium III or better with 400 MB free disk space
- Minimum 440 MB RAM. 512 MB RAM or more highly recommended.
- Windows 2000 Professional SP4 or above
- Outlook 2003 or later (if you wish to use Outlook Integration for Synchronizing and Email Archiving.)
Microsoft .NET
.NET is the next generation of software that connects our world of information with devices such as cell phones or remote laptops. .NET technology is about leveraging technology so that it works for you. It’s about communicating with various programs and devices that are available now, or will become available, to help you use your software in new ways.
While Advisors Assistant 6 will be using the Microsoft .NET technology, it does not force you into a "Web-based System." Advisors Assistant 6 will use the Internet where it makes sense. For example, you will have the option of locating your database on your desktop, across the office, or across the country. Some of Advisors Assistant 6 resides on your workstation using a Microsoft technology called Smart Client. (It’s on your workstation when it’s “smart” for it to be there!) Some of the program, the part that does most of the data-intense processing, is located with the database, so that the data doesn’t have to be sent over a network or the Internet until you ask to see it. Advisors Assistant 6 strikes a perfect balance between intelligent use of the Internet for remote access (without having to maintain a “web server,”) and allowing you to store your data on your own Windows XP or Windows Server computer.
Client Marketing Systems received the Microsoft Front Runner in July, 2006 for being among the first independent software vendors to have their application tested on SQL Server 2005 and bring the application to market.
